HIS MAJESTY KING MSWATI III SUMMONS IMBALI FOR THE FIRST SESSION OF UMHLANGA CEREMONY

 


Today, at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence, His Majesty King Mswati III has summoned young maidens (Imbali) to partake in the first session of the Umhlanga ceremony, slated to begin on 2 September, 2025. The official proclamation was delivered by Indvuna yeMbali, Bongiwe Hlatjwako, setting the stage for a series of cultural festivities.

The schedule for the upcoming Umhlanga ceremony has been revealed, outlining the following key dates:

- 2 September: Arrival and Registration Day

- 3 September: Maidens embark on a journey to various centers to cut the reed

- 4 September: Maidens participate in the cutting of the reed

- 5 September: Maidens return to Ludzidzini Royal Residence

- 6 September: Maidens take a day of rest

- 7 September: Maidens present the reed before Their Majesties

- 8 September: Umhlanga Reed Dance Main Day
