HUMANITARIAN AID POURING IN FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES AT MALINDZA RECEPTION CENTRE
The
Malindza reception centre, which houses asylum seekers and refugees, received a
significant donation of humanitarian aid this afternoon. The donation was made
possible through the Lamakhosini Foundation, a charitable organization founded
by Her Majesty's Correctional Service Commissioner General, LaMakhosini
Phindile Dlamini.
Commissioner
General Dlamini, who celebrated her birthday today, chose to mark the occasion
by giving back to the community. She visited the Malindza reception centre,
where she presented the young girls with a range of essential items, including
sanitary pads, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, roll-on's, storybooks, soccer
balls, clothes, and toys.
Speaking
at the event, Commissioner General Dlamini emphasized the importance of
resilience and self-care, telling the young girls, "I understand that you
are not here by choice, but I want to assure you that no situation is
permanent, the situation will pass." She encouraged them to remember their
worth and take care of themselves, saying, "You are special, and you must
look after yourselves."
The
donation was warmly received by Refugees Commissioner Zanele Mlambo, who
thanked the Lamakhosini Foundation for their kindness and generosity.
Commissioner Mlambo described the Malindza reception centre as "a home
away from home" and expressed her gratitude for the foundation's efforts
in bringing hope to the young women residing at the centre.
In
addition to Commissioner Dlamini's donations, the Reception Centre received
another generous contribution yesterday. Local philanthropist Nonhlanhla
Dlamini donated 70 live chickens, an effort that is expected to enhance food
security for the residents. Camp Manager Bongekile Mamba thanked Dlamini for
her thoughtful gesture and encouraged others to follow her lead in supporting
the refugee community.
The
humanitarian efforts at Malindza reception centre illustrate the power of
collective action and compassion in addressing the needs of vulnerable
populations. As support continues to pour in, both from organizations and
individuals, the resilience and hope of asylum seekers and refugees at the
centre are being strengthened, ensuring they feel valued and cared for in a
challenging time.
