UPDATE ON PASSPORT PRODUCTION
Press Statement
Following the Ministry of Home Affairs official
communication on September 19, 2024, regarding the production slowdown of
passports and travel documents, due to technical challenges with the passport
printers, the Ministry of Home Affairs provides the following update:
1. The Ministry is pleased to announce that the
technical issues with the passport printers have been successfully resolved.
All printers are now restored and functioning normally, allowing us to resume
full-scale passport production without further delays.
2. To further improve our production capabilities,
we are excited to announce that we will be receiving additional passport printers
by December 18, 2024. This enhancement will significantly facilitate a more
seamless and efficient passport issuance process.
3. With the printing machines back in operation and
the addition of new equipment, the Ministry is working to expedite the issuance
of pending passports.
4. The Ministry is committed to clearing the
backlog of passport applications within the next two weeks. We understand the
urgency of travel document requirements and will prioritize urgent travel
document applications to minimize disruptions for travelers during this period.
5. The public is advised to collect their travel
documents from the service center where their application was originally
submitted. This will ensure a smooth and efficient collection process.
6. New travel documents applicants are encouraged to
utilize the service centers located throughout the country. This approach aims
to alleviate overcrowding at the headquarters and ensure a more efficient
service.
7. The Ministry confirms that all classes of
passports and travel documents are available in adequate numbers to meet the demand.
The Ministry of Home Affairs appreciates the
public's patience and understanding during this period and reaffirms its
commitment to providing excellent service in passport processing. We strive to
enhance operational efficiency, improve service quality, and ensure a seamless
experience for all passport applicants.
On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, may I
extend our warmest wishes to Emaswati and everyone residing in Eswatini for a
joyous and prosperous festive season. May this time of celebration be filled
with happiness, unity, and blessings.
