18 DECEMBER 2024 ANNOUNCED A PUBLIC HOILIDAY IN RESPECT OF THE INCWALA DAY

 


The Minister of Home Affairs, HRH Princess Lindiwe has this afternoon at Ngabezweni Royal Residence announced that His Majesty King Mswati III has officially blessed Wednesday, December 18, 2024, a public holiday in celebration of Incwala Day.

The announcement followed swiftly after the King's commissioning of the Ingatja to begin the sacred task of cutting the Lusekwane, a pivotal ritual symbolizing the commencement of the revered Incwala ceremonies. As tradition dictates, the Ingatja will diligently carry out this sacred duty and are expected to return with the Lusekwane the following morning.

On the subsequent day, the time-honored slaying of a black bull will take place, marking a solemn and reverent occasion within the overall Incwala proceedings. Finally, the focal point of the Incwala ceremony culminates on the main day of celebration.

The announcement was made through Indvuna Phindile Matsebula during the second session of the Buganu ceremony held at the Hlane Royal Residence.
